Military Times "With just 10 days before a new education benefits is launched to help unemployed veterans learn a new skill, the VA has rushed to fix a problem that could have left community colleges in 18 states and Puerto Rico ineligible for participation." On Wednesday, VA "officials told Congress...they were revising their eligibility criteria for community colleges to be part of the Veterans Retraining Assistance Program so that schools that offer a limited number of four-year bachelor degrees would not be left out." The revision had been requesting by US Gus Bilirakis (R-FL), who "said he was 'pleased to learn that...VA has changed its mind.'"

Women in the unit "receive treatment for military sexual trauma, PTSD, substance use disorder, and even homelessness." WHAG adds, "The 18 beds in the new women's domiciliary unit are full, but directors say they will always make room for future women veterans in need."

Milwaukee Business Journal On Tuesday, the US Department of Labor (DOL) "said...that The Center for Veterans Issues, a Milwaukee nonprofit, will receive a total of $500,000 in grants" from the DOL's Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program. The Business Journal continues, "A grant for $200,000 will be used to serve the six surrounding counties of Milwaukee and a grant for $300,000 will be used to serve Milwaukee, the agency said in a press release." The Business Journal adds, "Last year the Center for Veterans Issues received $1 million to combat veteran homelessness as a part of the Veterans Affairs Supportive Services for Veteran Families Program."
