Senior Business Development Director - Aviation

    Location:  Fort Worth, TX

     

    Travel:  Up to 50% of travel between Ft. Worth, Falls Church, VA and Huntsville, AL (At least once a quarter, up to a week at a time)

     

    Minimum of SECRET Clearance (TOP SECRET preferred)

     

    Ideal candidate will be a recently retired (within 5-7 Years) Air Force or Navy, O-5 and above.

     

    Job Summary:

     

    Initiates and implements the research and analysis of business opportunities, consistent with organization’s long range and strategic plans. The person will be responsible for the annual bookings plan, strategic direction and planning for the Aviation Business Area.

     

    Principal Accountabilities:

     

    • ·         Responsible for building company presence as a global provider and effectively leading the marketing of the capabilities resulting to achieve and/or exceed the business plan and objectives.
    • ·         Serve as focal point for future domestic and international customers by representing the company’s business development growth within the market.
    • ·         Lead the formulation, implementation, and comprehensive support to business areas, including enterprise initiatives, marketing efforts, trade show messaging and branding initiatives.
    • ·         Establish relationships with and lead purposeful engagements with current and potential customers.
    • ·         Assess future growth opportunities aligned with the strategic growth direction. Provide recommendations on how to support customers in the targeted markets.
    • ·         Work across multiple functions and business areas and will lead the development and presentation of growth strategies and opportunities, both international and domestic.
    • ·         Lead the market assessments, develop new opportunities and advocates for new business resources, and coordinate win efforts
    • ·         Lead assessment of new business opportunities including supply, maintenance, transportation, engineering, and base operations/maintenance support and adjacent markets.
    • ·         Develop solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and innovation. Ensures solutions are consistent with organizational objectives and financial goals.
    • ·         Participate on opportunity specific win strategy reviews step reviews.

     

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    Responsible as the new business portfolio manager for the Aviation Business Area Team (BAT). Maintain and grow key customer relationships, coordinates & schedules customer meetings, identifies new business opportunities and provides candid input to the Aviation BAT Vice President pertaining to aviation business trends globally. Must develop and maintain close, trusted relationships with all Business Area Teams (BAT), key internal business partners as well as the customer. Will develop a business strategy for the Aviation BAT, assisted by key BAT members, other marketing leads and other support elements within DI. Additionally responsible to facilitate and improve the DI brand throughout the aviation marketplace.

     

    Knowledge & Skills:

     

    • ·         Demonstrated knowledge of associate contractors and the competitive landscape
    • ·         Complete understanding of business development that includes contract cost and pricing principles that translates efforts in achievements especially in acquiring new and follow-on business
    • ·         Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
    • ·         Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style
    • ·         Ability to integrate regulatory, customer, political and market information into effective business strategies and plans
    • ·         Strong interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy, and flexibility to work effectively with senior managers, employees, and the general public
    • ·         Strong leadership skills with an ability to coach, lead, motivate and influence others to support corporate goals and objectives

     

    Physical Requirements:

     

    • ·         Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 50% of the time may be required.
    • ·         Works in a normal office environment with controlled temperature and lighting conditions. This position will be located in Forth Worth, TX, Huntsville, AL, or Falls Church, VA.

     

    Experience:

     

    • ·  15 plus years in business development, program management or strategic planning.
    • ·         8 plus years of experience developing aviation business
    • ·         Proven record of successfully growing a business with expanded customers and markets domestically and internationally
    • ·         Experience building and managing customer relationships within the aviation customer community to seek out and identify new business opportunities

     

    Education:

     

    • ·         Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Engineering, Economics or International Affairs
    • ·         Master’s Degree in Business Administration is desirable
