    DAVENPORT — Norman Roby passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2010, at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Davenport. Memorials may be made to the church. Condolences may be left at www.rungemortuary.com.
    He was born on March 30, 1931, in Mystic, Iowa, the son of Floyd and Mary (Luttrell) Roby. After high school, Norman joined the United States Marine Corps, with later action against North Korean Forces: with part in the invasion and seizure of Inchon; part in the capture of Kimpo Airfield; later part against Chinese forces in North Korea. He received an honorable discharge as a Sergeant in June 1952.
    On December 21, 1952, he married Thelma Bergee at the Santa Fe Methodist Church in Ft. Madison, Iowa.
    Norman graduated with a B.A. degree from Iowa Wesleyan College and later received a master’s degree from Marycrest University. He taught in the Davenport schools from 1958 to 1993.
    Norman is survived by a daughter, Stephanie Kroeger, a son, Stephen (Michele) Roby, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Marilyn, and by his wife, Thelma, in February 2008.
