There is a new addition to the VetJobs site. I have heard from many

    > employers that while military personnel have better than average computer

    > skills, their use of Excel, Access and PowerPoint does not always meet the

    > civilian standards needed by a company. After looking at many training

    > programs and getting input from experts, VetJobs is now offering certified

    > online training in Excel at the beginner, advanced and master levels in

    > both the Excel 2003 and 2007 versions. We are also offering training in

    > Access. Certificates will be given to those who complete the certified

    > online training and the individual will have permanent access to the

    > course materials following completion of the courses. In the near future

    > we will also offer PowerPoint. There is a nominal charge for the online

    > training. The course provider has been recognized nationally as having one

    > of the best online training programs available.

    >

    > This training will make you a more valuable candidate to employers. To be

    > valuable to an employer, you have to have skills that others do not have

    > and these online courses will provide you those skills. In today's

    > competitive employment market, if you do not know as a minimum, Microsoft

    > Office skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), you are in essence

    > unemployable. VetJobs wants to correct these shortcomings, so we have

    > joined a group of experts and formed a company called VetSkills. To access

    > the training, go to www.vetjobs.com, then to Veterans and at the bottom of

    > the drop down, click on VetSkills. The directions on how to take the

    > courses is quite easy.

    >

    > I would appreciate feedback from people who take the courses. You can send

    > me your comments at contact@vetjobs.com.

DOD Welcome home-small.jpg A welcoming home for our Troops.

Welcoming home our men and women doesn't end after the crowd disperses, it MUST continue on for the life of the Veteran! They've served us, now we will serve them with programs that work so they reintegrate into society.

We are a national public benefit nonprofit organization that educates American Communities about best practices to serve Veterans.  We honor their service by empowering Veterans to apply their training and skills to successfully transition to productive careers and enterprises.

We provide free vocational training 24/7 to all of our members through our website, in addition to local events.  We believe the tenet that American Communities are the ultimate beneficiaries when Veterans claim their benefits and invest in productive endeavors.

The SWVBRC enlists the support of members of local Communities like you to increase Veteran awareness of the value of obtaining a VA card and receiving earned benefits.

Sponsorships, donations, volunteers and support from communities like yours enable us to reach out to Veterans and empower them to transition back into successful, productive enterprises that ultimately benefit all Americans and support future generations.
